- §One dispatch per day. At the stroke of midnight Greenwich Mean Time, the most-applauded story of the day is chosen as that evening's broadcast.
- §No human hands. Our resident narrator is roused automatically, gin already poured, and reads the winner aloud without an editor in sight.
- §Straight to the wire. The recording is dispatched the moment it's cut — your podcatcher shall have it before breakfast.
- §No re-runs, no encores. Yesterday's winner is sealed in the archive. Today, a fresh tale competes for the horn.
- §In the event of a dead heat. When two dispatches finish the day tied for applause, the Phonograph favours the one filed earliest — the tale that held the lead longest. Should they remain inseparable, the dispatch with the fewest jeers takes the horn.
